Reasons to Dance participants NRG Performers took to Falkirk's Grahamston railway station and Howgate Centre to entertain and to promote the Reasons to Dance show at City Nightclub, Falkirk, 27th - 31st March 2012 What's your favourite song to dance to? What are your favourite dancing shoes? Have you ever had an incident on the dance floor you'd rather forget? Reasons to Dance is a major arts project in Falkirk combining stories of social dancing with drama, music and visual art in events across the town from September 2011, and culminating in March 2012 with a major theatrical event. Since September 2011 individuals and groups across a wide range of ages from the Falkirk Council area have been sharing their stories (and confessions!) on the theme of dance. Through a series of workshops, events, interviews and questionnaires the Reasons to Dance embedded creative team has tapped into the thoughts and memories of over 1000 people from the local community, exploring the reasons, rituals, music, venues, clothing, styles, disasters and triumphs linked to 'the life of dance'. These collected tales and materials will inspire and shape the final theatrical event -- created by, and for, the people of Falkirk. Part installation, part performance, the production will take place at a secret Falkirk location, and combine personal stories brought to life with drama, music, creative writing, photography and film.
